Why the Minority Actually Rules

Sometimes, glimmers of hope descend onto reality to remind of us of our power and inherent ability to create a life of our very own choosing. We are reminded of our infinite potential and ability to change things, even on a global level. Yet sadly our institutions and socio-economic structures uphold a different reality; an utter systemic failure that not only creates but re-enforces injustice, rather than curbing it. One example can be perceived in the failure of our scientific institutions. All too often our cutting edge science is controlled by he who funds the study. This essentially compromises not only the findings but also the application of those results in society at large.

Yet this failure doesn’t apply solely to our scientific institutions, it extends to all areas of society. Increasingly, our social, political and economic institutions exist to serve a small class of elite much to the detriment of human progress. This failure of society has rendered us despondent as our unhealthy obsession with materialism has caused us to forget that which is divine and moral.

To counter this failure and transform it we must recognise our immense resources, tools and knowledge at our disposable and organise accordingly. We must recognise and seek revolutionary ideas to reverse this unfair status quo once and for all. But we cannot do so until we have resolved that which limits us, a limitation found within the mind. An individual and collective limiting belief that is all too prevalent in society, a belief that says we can’t change things.

But modern science is showing us a picture to the contrary. It shows us that we are powerful beyond comprehension, if only we’d just listen. One such study from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with revolutionary ramifications, is called Social Consensus through the Influence of Committed Minorities. The study found that it only takes 10% of a population to hold an opinion before it is adopted by the majority becoming the dominant belief in any given society.

“When the number of committed opinion holders is below 10 percent, there is no visible progress in the spread of ideas. It would literally take the amount of time comparable to the age of the universe for this size group to reach the majority,” said SCNARC Director Boleslaw Szymanski, the Claire and Roland Schmitt Distinguished Professor at Rensselaer.

“Once that number grows above 10 percent, the idea spreads like flame.”

So what does this study mean? And more importantly how can we apply its significant findings to the advancement of humanity? Before we go into its positive ramifications, perhaps we should have a look at how this study is currently being used in a negative sense.

You can imagine how shocked I was to discover that the US Army had funded this study. Something so powerful in the hands of the most dangerous army in the world.

I immediately contacted Dr. Szymanski for an interview explaining that I wanted to discuss his findings for an article to raise social consciousness. I had to do something. He requested the questions and scope of the article to which I responded. He then declined. But I should have known, he made his affiliations abundantly clear in a filmed presentation when he opened by saying, “I would like to look a bit at a topic about the social network telling why institutions, companies and even governments should care about them”.
The presentation went on to look at examples of colonialism, Steve Jobs, corporate public relations and other ‘world changing’ events, all of which were political, industrial or economically related.

And I thought scientists were supposed to be objective. I assume who pays his salary influenced his decision to reject my request more than his desire to promote his findings in a more positive sense. After all, we must remember who commissioned the study. Effectively the army owns it. But I believe science should be for all of humanity’s benefit. Not only the elite. But how can that be when the scientific institutions are structured as they are? The majority of science is dictated by those who have money, and their choice to fund science is again dictated by how much they can profit or benefit from the study. The system is fundamentally flawed.

But lets for a moment ponder its positive interpretation. Let us recall that everything starts with a thought, a belief. And from that individual thought or belief manifests our individual reality, which in turn influences and creates our collective reality. We must take responsibility for the world we find ourselves in today.

But one of the greatest beliefs, which hinders our collective progress, particularly found among those who are actually in a position to do something to influence our current course, is the idea that there is no point in trying to change the world because they believe it simply isn’t impossible. And just like that, in their belief system, they abhor any further responsibility to do a single thing.

But we must remember that our entire lives are a testament to our thoughts, beliefs and actions. Ask yourself, why are you where you are today? Because you believed it into reality, you believed you were nothing more and nothing less than your current situation, you thought it through and then you acted. And that’s why you are where you are. Why would changing the world be any different?

Currently, the amount of people who believe that change is possible is in the minority. We’re not 10% yet but there is much hope to be had because when we do reach 10% we will surely become a force to be reckoned with.

I believe we are heading in that direction – I have to believe it because I’m ready to die for it. But we can do it much faster if you get on board. God only knows what the US military is doing with these findings. But one thing I can assure you of is that it is not for humanity’s benefit.

I’m here to say it doesn’t have to be like that. I’m here to say that we can use this study to serve humanity. We can arm ourselves with truth, love, knowledge and tools that sometimes, just sometimes reach the light of day. One acting alone can do little, but all of us together? Now that’s a beautiful thought. If you make only one-step, just one, let it be that you CAN do something. Because you must know that your belief is essential and without it, nothing can change.

Is the Carbon Tax the Death of Democracy?

Tags

On July 1st 2012, Australia joined nations around the world in their move towards a carbon economy through the implementation of a Carbon Tax, which will become an Emissions Trading Scheme in 2015. Yet the underpinning justification for this move, the science behind man-made global warming, is not even close to being settled. In fact, an increasingly large body of scientists and researchers are telling us the exact opposite of what the United Nations and governments around the world would have us believe. It is now evident that the science behind man-made global warming that dictates government policy is false, manipulated and corrupt and exists solely to meet a pre-determined political agenda whilst attempting to pass it off as credible science.

Central to this article is the role of the United Nations in all of this. Their treaties, summits and bodies have been responsible for providing the framework and political will  that has moved the ‘environmental movement’ to where it is today.

This article seeks to go into more depth into current day science which overwhelmingly suggests that global warming is not caused by human Carbon Dioxide emissions. Furthermore, I will outline the role of key players on the international stage that have worked tirelessly to convince us otherwise.

Finally, I will begin to look in more depth at what the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) is and where it actually originated. As the article progresses it will become clearer that the Carbon Tax and Emissions Trading Scheme do absolutely nothing for the environment. Given this is the pretext used by governments for introducing carbon economy, I will attempt to convey some deeper social, political and economic influences at work here. In doing so, I hope to assist in understanding the reasons why we are moving towards a carbon economy and how this global movement abolishes our inalienable rights as human beings and basic freedoms – most of which many of us take for granted.

The United Nation Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (UNIPCC)

According to the UN IPCC’s website “The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the leading international body for the assessment of climate change. It was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts.”

The UN IPCC’s findings are directly responsible for government policy being implemented around the world and this is carried out through four assessment reports produced in 1990, 1995, 2001 and 2007. There are currently 192 countries signed up to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) – an important international framework that commits governments to tackle climate change through a reduction of Carbon Dioxide Emissions. There are 194 recognised countries in the world (depending on your source).

Despite its global dominance, overwhelming evidence suggests that these powerful assessment reports that dictate policy and directly responsible for the introduction of the Carbon Tax are false and full of misinformation. How is it that such a powerful tool as the United Nations with immense influence over world governments was able to progress so far in an agenda that was based on lies?

Key Players

One name that constantly comes up in regards to the global ‘environmental movement’ (Climate Change Industry) is Maurice Strong. Strong has been driving the climate change bandwagon since its origins back in the 70′s. Having made his fortune in oil, Maurice became very involved with the United Nations and headed many programs and summits on climate change. Maurice Strong fled to China in 2006 after being implicated in a million dollar bribe to himself involving the Oil for Food Program. He has been there ever since and is still very active in the ‘environmental movement’.

To further understand how we got ourselves to where we are today, we have to understand where the myth of man-made global warming really gained traction. Al Gore’s book and ‘documentary’ - An Inconvenient Truth - was a hit worldwide, it even received not one but two Oscars! Reminds me of when Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize – what a joke! Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, was highly successful in instilling fear around the world that imminent climate cataclysmic events would soon follow all because of human produced Carbon Dioxide. The documentary spread like wild fire and found its way into classrooms across America. The fate of humanity was sealed; disaster would fall upon us and entire cities would be under water, unless, we acted now. Complete lies!

So what else do these two powerful men have in common besides being strong proponents behind the ‘environmental movement’? It’s called The Chicago Climate Exchange and it is North America’s sole carbon exchange centre (think stock market). Yes, that’s right these men are raking in massive profits from the global Emissions Trading Scheme. Conflict of interest? I think so! The same men that sold us the myth of man-made global warming are the same men that sold us the ‘solution’ of a Carbon Tax and Emissions Trading Scheme and now they’re profiting off their lucrative investments which are based on lies.

Dr. Vincent Gray senior climate skeptic and UN IPCC expert reviewer

Dr. Vincent Gray is an internationally eminent retired scientist with a Phd in Chemistry from Cambridge, who enjoyed a long career as a coal industry researcher before spending the last 22 years of his life in climate science. He lives off his pension and receives no funding for his climate research work, hence his interest in the climate debate is not influenced by any financial ties or interests.

He has published hundreds of scientific papers spanning many topics with several on climate appearing in peer-reviewed publications. But due to the institutional corruption and politicisation surrounding the Climate Change debate, much of his work is censored. He also authored two books; The Climate Change Delusion and Confessions of a Climate Skeptic.

Dr Vincent Gray is an expert reviewer of all four UN IPCC assessment reports and is responsible for over 1000′s of comments on the reports most of which were ignored. The blatant disregard of contrary scientific findings by the UN IPCC conveys the UN IPCC political agenda at the expense of the science. Dr Vincent Gray’s comments were not peer-reviewed; an essential method used in the science world to ensure consensus and accurate scientific findings.

In an interview with Dr. Vincent Gray, I asked him about the UN IPCC’s credibility and track record.

“The 1992 Rio Conference endorsed a legally binding definition of ‘Climate Change’  that the climate is largely controlled by human-produced trace gases.”

“They wished to show that the globe is warming, but this cannot be done as it is impossible to measure the average temperature of the earth.”

I delved further, questioning the system that governs the Climate Change Industry where Dr Vincent provided some further interesting insight.

“The whole system is supported, supervised and financed by the governments who signed the Framework Convention on Climate Change.”

“They intimidated editors of scientific journals to control the ‘peer review’ process in their favour.”

“They took control of many university departments, National science organisations and media outlets.”

“People who tell the truth are intimidated.”

Dr Vincent’s comments on the UN IPCC reports conveys the inherent institutional corruption that occurred allowing inaccurate science of ‘man-made global warming’ to infiltrate society’s perceptions thus forming the foundation of government policy.

Science – The Facts

The next section of this article will be concerned with the science underpinning man-made global warming, specifically human Carbon Dioxide emissions and whether or not humans are responsible for a rise in temperatures, Global Warming and/or Climate Change. This key point is at the heart of the entire debate because it is on this false and misleading science that a global re-structuring of the economy, politics and society as we know it is occurring. So if the science that justifies the Carbon Tax, Emissions Trading Scheme and other massive global transformations are in fact based on lies, wouldn’t you like to know?

Firstly, the world hasn’t actually been warming since 1998, it’s been cooling. This explains why ‘Global Warming’ has been re-branded as ‘Climate Change’. UN IPCC’s underpinning science purports that a rise in man-made Carbon Dioxide emissions is responsible for a rise in temperature, but this simply isn’t true. It is the other way around. It is temperatures that dictate Carbon Dioxide levels. Dr. Tim Ball a prominent speaker on Climate change and climate skeptic outlines this in a radio interview with Alan Jones.

UN IPCC temperature data, from which their conclusions on man-made global warming are drawn, is fundamentally flawed for several reasons. The data is taken from weather stations from around the world and then assembled into computer models which frame our understanding of global warming today. Yet in 1990 when over 6000 weather stations worldwide were being used, three quarters dropped out which left a clear bias towards warmer temperature recordings from the remaining active weather stations. This suggests that the recent warming that we know of is connected to the methods of recording and not an actual increase in temperature. More details about how this crucial data is flawed can be found within this report from Science and Public Policy.

Dr. Vincent Courtillot, Professor of Geophysics at University Paris Diderot formed a research group with other established scientists from around Europe to determine the cause of temperature fluctuation. After requesting UN IPCC’s data that forms their theory of man-made Global Warming, he was denied, therefore he and his group had to re-collate the data independently. His research found that temperature change is determined solely by Solar activity. Yes, that’s right the sun dictates temperature, not Carbon Dioxide levels of which humans have a minuscule influence compared to what is produced naturally by nature. Their scientific findings are well documented and can be viewed here.

And what about the global rise in sea levels devastating coastal cities around the world? Well science around the world shows no change in Global Sea levels, with Tidal Gauge stations recording an average of 18cm Global Sea Level Rise every century with no variation recorded during increased temperatures. That’s 1.8mm a year. This information can be viewed from a joint report by the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change – A consortium of independent scientists established to analyse published and peer-reviewed literature available on global warming from around the world producing a report that directly responds to the UN IPCC’s reports. Another excellent research paper on sea level rise around the world can be viewed here.

A 1000 international Scientists who dissent and disagree with man-made global warming speak out in the Climate Depot Report. One scientist, Dr. Leonard Weinstein who worked 35 years at the NASA Langley Research Center said:

“Any reasonable scientific analysis must conclude the basic theory wrong!!”

The information is available for anyone to read. We have been lied to. Global warming is a scam. But why has the United Nations gone to such great lengths to have us believe otherwise? Is an Emissions Trading Scheme so important? Or is there something else going on?

The Carbon Tax and Emissions Trading Scheme

The initial step of the Carbon Tax in the move towards a Carbon Economy is underway. If left unchallenged, the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) will be introduced in 2015 paving the way for the new Global Carbon Economy. This integrated global economic system is based on trading and control of carbon emissions. This is how it works; companies are designated with an amount of carbon credits in line with the government’s cap of carbon emissions that they’re allowed to emit. Companies that emit less are left with carbon credits which can be sold for a profit. Alternatively, if they use all their credits they purchase more carbon credits from companies around the world on the carbon exchange market. The idea is to give an economic incentive to polluters to reduce their carbon footprint. As the world moves closer to their goal of reducing emissions as outlined at the United Nations Kyoto protocol, we are told that we are helping the environment by limiting pollution. But again, the incentive for polluters only occurs if it is profitable. There is much criticism about the effectiveness of this system where it is currently implemented in Europe and has nothing short of failed. Fraud and corruption are rife and emissions have not yet been reduced – and even if they were it wouldn’t actually have any effect on the climate change anyway!

Eventually the Emissions Trading Scheme and carbon credits will be transferred to individuals in the form of a carbon card, much like a credit card we use today only it is for our energy consumption. Individuals will be designated with an annual carbon allowance to meet their energy, fuel and travel needs. The concept remains the same as the Emissions Trading Scheme, only the individual is designated carbon credits to be exchanged on the Carbon Stock Exchange markets. Plans in the UK for the carbon trading credit cards are well underway and will follow around the world soon enough. As nations attempt to meet their emission reduction goals, individual carbon allowances will also be capped and decrease over time.

This system of carbon trading and carbon economy is in the hands of the major banks such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan. Personally, I don’t feel too good about handing over the reigns of control of many aspects of my life to be regulated by the banks and governments. How do you feel about that?

Social Transformation

As we slowly move into a carbon currency, we replace our current price based system with one that deals with energy, which will essentially lead to a cashless society. We are already seeing this happening voluntarily around the world. As people increasingly start to use their credit cards for all their transactions, money in circulation will eventually be replaced with purely electronic transactions and energy allowances or individual carbon credits. This was on the Bilderberg 2012′s Agenda with the move towards electronic I.D. cards already happening – an essential step towards a cashless society. Every detail about us is recorded on these cards through micro chip technology. But keep in mind, individuals in a cashless society hands over all their rights to the government and banks that control the system.

Another worrying aspect of the ‘environmental movement’ in the name of ‘saving the planet’ is the United Nations’ Agenda 21 for Sustainable Development, adopted by more than 178 governments around the world at the United Nations Rio Earth Summit in 1992. Agenda 21 is a detailed global action plan already adopted and being implemented by governments around the world which openly calls for population reduction, abolition of property rights and a complete re-structuring of populations around the world into high-volume smart cities. This is not a joke; it is an United Nations international treaty and a working document that governments are already implementing on both national and local level. I will dedicate an entire article to this issue in the coming weeks.

But probably of most interest about the Emissions Trading Scheme and the move towards a carbon economy is its startling parallels with Technocracy. Technocracy is a social movement and alternative political system that gained quite a bit of traction in the US in the 1930′s during the Great Depression. It is a social, economic and political system based on individual’s energy consumption and is controlled wholly by experts and scientists – not elected leaders like the system we live in today. Instead of people being rewarded with money for their work, they would be given energy allowances. One key aspect of Technocracy is the Energy Distribution Card. Sounds familiar? Well it should, the idea is being rolled out around the world now all in the name of fighting man-made global warming yet the idea originated long before man-made global warming even existed. Are we moving towards a Technocratic society?

Central to Technocracy is a system that allows for the measurement of energy consumption of both individuals and households. The political system cannot be implemented otherwise. This may sounds familiar to some of you as the Smart Grid and Smart Meters currently being rolled out around the world. This technology is being hooked up to households around the world and infrastructure is being designed that will allow Smart Grids to be integrated into a much larger global system of measuring energy production and consumption.

A brilliant question by Patrick Wood, “Who is orchestrating this?”

So now what?

All of the ‘solutions’ I have outlined in this article are being sold to the world via media and education in the name of ‘saving the environment’. But the very same entities responsible for creating the ‘solutions’, are the ones responsible for the problem to begin with and pose a serious threat towards truly sustainable solutions. The state of technology and resources existing today to transform our society towards a truly sustainable global community are infinite. All that stands in our way are the political, economic and social systems currently in place. But we must remember that they only exist because we allow them too.

One way or another a fundamental transformation of our global society is underway. The only question we need ask ourselves is do we want to be a part of the alternative and co-create a sustainable global community together? Or do we want to let the bankers, politicians and technocrats do it for us under the guise of ‘sustainability’ whilst moving towards a world where every aspect of our lives are governed and controlled. Freedom as we know it will no longer exist and along with our freedom will go the mechanisms that are now available to us to protect it.

Things are moving fast, faster than we can comprehend. It’s time to make your choice. By doing nothing, you are complicit to their plan. By remaining indifferent you allow this repressive and controlling global system to be built right in front of your very eyes. But by saying no, educating yourself and beginning to actively participate in opposing this system you make room for the new fair, equal and just paradigm. A world to be built by the collective, by all of us. An alternative system that we can all be proud to call our own. We don’t have much time left, we must act and we must act now.

The Bilderberg Group – Where the World’s Most Powerful People Converge

Tags

It is a commonly held world view that we live in a democracy. That citizens possess political power through the leaders whom they elect to represent them. While this is true to a degree, clandestine domains of power exist behind the scenes of government that dictate global policy in a very undemocratic manner. One such powerful organisation doing just that is called the Bilderberg Group who for almost 60 years have met annually, under secretive, hidden conditions. The group is attended by over a 100 the world’s most powerful people spanning politics, industry, media, academia, finance and European royalty.

The following article seeks to convey some of the Bilderberg Group’s past and present agenda whilst looking specifically at the influence this group holds over world events. Some areas I will explore include their control over the mainstream media, hand-picking of world leaders prior to their ‘election’, engineered inflation resulting in poverty, the myth of man-made climate change which is responsible for the introduction of crippling laws and taxes, as well as their secret Swiss bank accounts which funds the enforcement of their agenda.

Those invited to participate in the annual Bilderberg meetings are mandated against revealing anything discussed at the meetings, however, thanks to inside informers, leaked documents, ex-participants, investigative journalists and alternative news sources, information about what transpires at these meetings is known and widely accessible online.

In a rare admission on Belgium radio, former NATO Secretary-General and Bilderberg member Willy Claes confirmed the policy making influence of the meetings, turning the group’s claim about being a mere platform for discussion without any real power, on its head. According to Claes, attendees are mandated to implement policy agreed upon at the meetings. This is carried out through the compilation of a report after a consensus is reached which is distributed amongst participants and expected to be acted upon in their respective spheres of influence.

The group is notorious for influencing political elections as many invited participants later go on to become powerful people in politics. Bill Clinton attended in 1991, Tony Blair in 1993 and reports suggest Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama attended in 2008, just to name a few. According to Guardian writer Charlie Skelton, this year’s 2012 meeting was attended by US presidential candidate Mitt Romney, as witnessed by several hotel staff, suggesting Romney could be the elite’s pick for the upcoming election.  Since US activists began to hold American Bilderberg participants accountable for violating the Logan Act which forbids US citizens from negotiating with foreign powers on behalf of the United States, heads of states and high ranking US politicians have preferred to attend in secret and are not mentioned on the official attendance lists.

In its almost 60 years of existence, the Bilderberg Group has largely been ignored by the mainstream media and the reason for this is very simple; representatives from major news organisations are present at the meetings. According to this year’s 2012 official attendance list, the meeting had representatives from The Washington Post, The Economist, Foreign Affairs and The Wall Street Journal; all very influential publications. Despite the attendance of these powerful individuals from the media, the secretive meeting remained largely uncovered in mainstream news outlets which indicates the major media’s powerful role in society as dictators of public opinion – not uncovering the truth.

Notorious international banker David Rockerfeller and patriarch of one of the most powerful families the world has ever seen, played a large role in the formation of the Bilderberg Group. He said this about the mainstream media’s complicity with the Bilderberg meetings at the 1991 meeting.

“We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and their great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.”

Despite the world media’s silence on the group, alternative news agencies and investigative journalists such as Alex Jones, Daniel Estulin and Jim Tucker have sufficiently exposed the group for them to finally admit their existence with the 2012 meeting being the first year where several mainstream publications actually mentioned the event.

Investigative journalist and author of international best seller The True Story of the Bilderberg Group, Daniel Estulin has been following the meetings for 15 years. This year he received some telling information from a source inside the meeting that the US wants to devalue the dollar against the Chinese Yuan resulting in inflation. The consequences of this decision alone will throw countless more Americans into poverty. Inflation is largely believed to be a natural phenomenon of the market, but it isn’t – it is an engineered occurrence carried out by elite international bankers from behind closed doors.

Other leaked information pertaining to the climate change agenda at the 2012 meeting reveals the ‘finishing touches’ being put onto the Global Carbon Tax with inside sources confirming that the World Bank will be used as a collection agency. The science behind man-made climate change has largely been discredited and has been used as a political tool to implement top down policies such as the global carbon tax which in essence does very little for the environment. The convenience of this lie has also helped pave the way for Agenda 21, a United Nations policy in collaboration with world governments which in the name of ‘Sustainable Development’ seeks to radically change the face of society through revoking rights to private property and transferring populations into more ‘sustainable’ communities. Implementation of Agenda 21 is already well underway in Texas where citizens are resisting. I will dedicate an entire article to the ‘man-made’ climate change agenda in the coming weeks.

In a telling interview in 2011, a high level director from a Swiss bank revealed the intricate dealings of the Bilderberg group and their secret Swiss funds. He detailed conversations where he was instructed to pay individuals who had been ordered by the IMF, World Bank or Bilderberg members to assassinate people who were not supporting their plans. According to the Swiss bank director these hidden Swiss accounts are unaudited, tax free and equate to huge amounts giving the group immense freedom and means to carry out their plans.

With the advent of communication technologies and the global reach of the internet, once clandestine meetings veiled in secrecy are now being exposed in full view for public scrutiny. There is a very good reason that the Bilderberg group has remained hidden from the public eye for over 50 years, we’re not supposed to know. Bilderberg derives its power from the ignorance of the masses. Only through exposure of their corrupt, malevolent plan for world government may their hidden dominance over us be overcome. What were once considered ‘conspiracy theories’ are now being revealed as ‘conspiracy realities’. It’s important that we all understand the nature of the systems which govern us and the techniques employed to ensure their continued dominance, otherwise we become blind to crippling policies that slowly strip away our civil liberties. As their goal for world government looms dangerously near, we risk willingly consenting to a system that once implemented, can never be changed.

I’ll leave you with a quote written by David Rockerfeller in his 2003 book entitled Memoirs.

“Some even believe we (the Rockefeller family) are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure—one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”

A War Worth Fighting For – Why Wikileaks is Under Attack

The way societies across the world are governed (controlled) is changing at a rapid rate. As global reaching power increasingly becomes more consolidated in the hands of fewer men, losing our power as citizens and rights as human beings begins to become a reality – one that is laregly lived out in ignorance. The banking blockade that has been imposed on Wikileaks which recently reached its 500th day will be the central issue of this article for its shocking blatancy in revealing the true nature of power and how our society is governed. It is this information and the telling context from which it arises that I wish to share with you today in the hope of offering an insight into the unhealthy collusion between the financial sector and government. In doing so I wish to highlight the importance of the current legal battle being fought by Wikileaks and how the outcome of this battle has the potential to shape the future of the world as we know it.

Most people have heard about Wikileaks as the organisation has been incredibly successful in disseminating their leaked documents into the mainstream media and breaking stories globally. What many people probably weren’t aware of though is Wikileaks’ wider political and ideological movement for large scale global, political and social reform. This movement’s foundation is based on the free flow of information – integral for a free and just society. This stated goal is not to be under-estimated and should be kept in mind as we later come to see the response WikiLeaks received from the electronic financial sector regarding its work. In a documentary about WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, Wikileaks’ spokesperson and editor-in-chief, said that every leaked document has a second message, “If you engage in immoral unjust behaviour, it will be found out, it will be revealed, and you will suffer the consequences.”

How many of you know about the  financial blockade that has been imposed on the Wikileaks organisation by the Bank of America, Visa, Mastercard, Paypal and Western Union without any legal or moral right to do so? While this story was reported, I feel our mainstream media lacked the necessary context essential in understanding its importance particularly for the insight it offers into the un-democratic practices of our supposed ‘democratic’ governments. The blockade has resulted in 95% of WikiLeaks’ donations – their main source of funding – prevented from reaching the organisation.  This outrageous act of economic warfare was not committed in isolation; further documents have been leaked that outline the Bank of America’s lawyers Hunton and Williams, hiring intelligence contractors to discredit and ultimately destroy Wikileaks. The document outlines sinister yet highly sophisticated strategies for crushing the organisation through various methods that raises questions about how the corporate/political complex goes abut dealing with ‘unfavourable’ external influences.

How is it that a benevolent organisation who acts merely as a conduit for the truth about our governments’ unethical actions be treated in such a way? And what powerful political systems exist that allow for virtually the entire electronic financial corporations to come together and block donations from people all over the world from reaching their rightful recipient? What does this say about our civil rights? If an entire organisation – especially one that is in the business of revealing the truth – can be brought to its knees, what does that mean for our individual freedoms? What about this blog? What’s stopping our society from transforming into a place where words of dissent and personal truths are eradicated through the control of a person’s access to money? We’re not there yet but as we increasingly rely on electronic means to deal with our money, the possibility of this method of social control becomes more likely.

The events that I have outlined in this articles raise a lot more questions than they answer. It’s important that we all start asking these questions and perceiving their answers around us in our societies. The banking blockade imposed on Wikileaks conveys a disturbing precedent that if left unchecked will set a dangerous example for the future: Revealing the truth to foster global justice will not be tolerated by our leaders and their corporate allies. We can’t let them win this battle. The ramifications of doing so are far too great. Please consider supporting this battle by donating towards the Wikileak’s legal costs; a fight up against some of the most powerful people and alliances the world has ever seen.

As George Orwell clearly defines, “Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” In the case of Wikileaks’ that right has been breached. If Wikileaks’ rights are taken I guarantee our individual rights to speak the truth are next. In this current paradigm and form of government, freedom is not a given, it must be fought for and we must do so now.

Iceland’s Silent Revolution

For a society to be truly free and balanced it must have access to information about the workings of itself from a range of sources that represent different views. Yet as people increasingly rely solely on mainstream outlets for their information they run the risk of becoming misinformed. The news we receive from mainstream news outlets is inadequate in fostering democratic societies and a free and informed citizenry as the media fails us is through its lack of contextualisation – by presenting events and information as largely isolated and unrelated – and secondly through a lack of coverage altogether. This massive failure is clearly evident from the world media’s silence about the Icelandic Revolution. Widespread knowledge and understanding of what occurred in Iceland over the past few years alone has the potential to transform societies around the world for the better – so who has gone to great lengths to hide this information from us and why? Before we look at this question we first need to understand what happened in Iceland.

Following Iceland’s economic collapse in 2008 – the third worst economic collapse in humanity’s known history – an Icelandic participatory democratic movement followed. Iceland’s outraged citizens hit the streets and protested, eventually leading to the resignation of the prime minister and its entire governement, a 93% win on a referendum where the Icelandic people refused to pay back their foreign debt under the unfair conditions outlined, a re-writing of their constitution in consultation with Iceland’s citizens utilising the internet to hear all opinions and holding the banking criminals responsible for the crash legally accountable.

And to think, barely a mention in our media. This could quite possibly be the most important piece of information to have emerged in a very long time for the valuable lessons it contains and the seeds of possibility it carries for global widespread change in the face of these financially critical times. The way in which the Icelandic people have gone about dealing with their socio-economic problems after having plummeted into recession is nothing short of revolutionary. There is much value to be extracted from their revolution in the western world as our standard of living, social values, and political systems are similar to those that were/are found in Iceland.

Corruption at the most senior levels of governement, banking and media, played a large part in Iceland’s collapse. Evidence suggests that the collapse was engineered in 1998 between 13 key players known as ‘the boys club’ spanning the Icelandic banking and media industries who met in secret on a yacht in Miami, Florida. The implications of such powerful people/elitists meeting in secret are enormous and should not be under-estimated. They indicate a far more sinister and secretive hand ‘governing’ our societies – in this case Iceland’s.

Despite the corruption and the unethical practices carried out, Iceland fought back and one way that it did this was through the re-writing of its constitution by the people to ensure nothing like this ever happened again. The constitution was written on a foundation of justice, equality and human rights and utlised a technique called crowd sourcing where members of the public were able to influence its creation – now that sounds more like democracy. Of most significance in the constitution is article 65 Right of referral of the Nation which sees 10% of Iceland’s voters sufficient to demand a referendum on laws passed in the parliament. This article alone ensures a tremendous amount of power is retained by the citizens of Iceland as it allows Icelandics power to stop laws that are against its citizens’ interests.

What’s more is Iceland is also set to become the world’s global safe haven for investigative journalism sporting some of the world’s best press freedom laws under the Icelandic Modern Media Initiative. The importance of a free press and protection of individuals right to free speech is integral in maintaining a democratic and just society. As these freedoms are taken away, they are dangerously replaced by official lines, corporate interests and government propaganda which if left unchecked contribute to a an uninformed and unaware society unable to protect its rights (as it has no idea that they are even being taken away).

Iceland’s leadership in constitutionalism should be adopted as an example globally. The rest of the world would benefit greatly to follow Iceland’s lead and actively participate in co-creating ideal societies where the rights and powers are back in the hands of the people. As economies collapse around us threatening people’s livelihoods and survival the harsh and unfair responses by the banks and governments needs to stop. Throwing money at a bank that stole your money is not the solution.

So why was this information prevented from reaching us via conventional methods such as mainstream news outlets? It’s very simple, generally mainstream media is made up of a very concentrated ownership where the power of the largest publications and television channels falls in the hand of a very few people. These people sitting at the top have all the power in dictating what goes into the news we consume. They are influenced by their own corporate, economical and political interests. They are in the business of self-preservation – not informing and educating the public. Simply put, the Icelandic revolution represents a threat to their existence – as a freer more democratic society informed about how society is made up may not necessarily choose for corporations to retain the power that they currently possess.

It’s imperative that we begin to understand and question the institutions that surround us, rather than taking at face value everything that is fed to us on TV or in the newspaper. Iceland’s revolution exposes our media for what it truly is; self-preserving and an elitist tool for social control. We live in a digital world where quality alternative sources of information are easy to come by online. I urge you to explore these options rather than depend solely on mainstream media. The cost of allowing things to continue as they are is too great, we must start educating ourselves independently if we want to create a truly free society. In the telling prophetic words of George Orwell “In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.” The revolution starts within. Now all that remains is to ask ourselves what kind world would we like to live in?

An Alternative Way of Thinking

I was never a fan of capitalism, in fact I despised it from the very beginning. It’s built on a foundation that is completely unjust. Its very essence is derived from the exploitation of something or someone else; natural resources, labour and in many cases both. While those doing all the exploiting benefit greatly, there will always be the exploited, for the system cannot exist otherwise.

I spent countless hours researching and learning about the system that I had little say in, yet was born into. The more I came to know the more I realised its short comings. I looked at its history and ties to colonialism whilst researching in depth the world’s monetary system and how it has created a globalised economy based on debt. Slowly, I came to understand its nature and began to perceive its existence all around me. Consumerism, mass-media, poverty, war – everywhere I looked there seemed to be some kind of offshoot of this imperfect system.

In today’s age, this system is attaining new heights. New levels of power, profit and exploitation are being reached. As the gap between rich and poor widens, one can’t help but ask where does it all end? How much poverty, war and suffering can we, humanity, tolerate before we stand up and shout “This has gone too far!”?

In my pursuit of answers I flirted with alternatives and potential solutions. Socialism? Spiritualism? International Development? Revolution? Yet despite my research and questioning I never actually came closer to an answer or a true alternative. But that’s OK, I didn’t need to have the answer. The simple act of pursuing and questioning the existence of an alternative is more than enough. One person, five or even 1000 people may not have any answers. And that’s because any answer or solution must come from the collective, the masses, the people. I’m talking about evolution.

One barrier I frequently encountered in my endless discussions and criticisms towards this profit driven system tended to result in the same response. Take money out of the equation, and you’re left with a lazy and unmotivated society, living off the hard work of others. But I’m here to say no, this is not true.  Laziness and greed are not human nature, merely states of mind encouraged by a defective and imbalanced system. People, I believe, are motivated by other reasons besides money such as meaingful work, sense of contribution and challenging themselves to excel. Sadly, we have forgotten this truth as society has little room for such motivating positions within this profit focused system.

I believe each person on this planet possesses a talent or gift that simply needs to be recognised and then utilised. When the focus is off profit and onto people, such talents can more readily be identified and accommodated. Why can’t we exploit that instead!?

Clearly, I don’t have the answers nor an alternative but the important part is that I’m talking about it and questioning. Whilst capitalism is the current and dominant system, I know deep within my heart there is a more just and equitable alternative for everybody. Simply being aware of this and discussing it with each other prepares us for when a true alternative begins to emerge.  The full picture needn’t be clear before we start taking steps towards a change.

Twenties’ Idealism

Sometimes, rhetoric arises about the younger generation’s role in the shaping of future societies and I believe that this has never been more true than where we, humanity, find ourselves at present. Yet paradoxically, at our hour of greatest need, a lack of opportunities exist that empower and mobilise our youth to carry out the arduous task of saving the world.

My own journey began in my twenties and saw me visiting far-flung locations around the world. My desire for unconventional experiences found me working, living and gravitating towards politically unstable countries rife with social problems and inequality. Despite my elevated position experienced from amongst societies’ privileged, I always felt and absorbed the plight of the less fortunate.

A few years ago, I became familiar with a well-known phrase; if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything you want. It always resonated with me, as I knew deep within my heart I could achieve and do anything I wanted. It was a comforting feeling knowing that I could pick, choose and succeed at anything I so desired. I tested the quote’s validity time and time again and on each occasion I surprised myself with what I was in fact capable of.

I contemplated the universality of its truth and found that it applied to any human being with the will or passion to try. In theory this is true, but the reality conveys a far contrary picture. The truth of the matter is that some 80% of the global population will never even have the opportunity or platform to try.

Naturally, I started directing my passion and energy towards alleviating that problem, which I had never personally faced, yet paradoxically completely had.

I tried, volunteered, researched, lived, experienced and went about using my freedoms to help these people have the very opportunities that I so abundantly had.

But the irony was that I wasn’t free, I faced the very same restrictions and constraints that they did; albeit on a different level.

You see, we all want the same things, peace, security, health, prosperity, food and shelter. The only difference is that I want to dedicate my life to giving that, and they just want to have that.

So why is it so difficult in our day and age, with all the technology, information and communications for a person to dedicate their time to a noble cause and be a paid a modest amount to do the job?

Why must a person sell themselves short and engage in work that goes against their core beliefs, stifles their creativity and renders their talents untapped just to gain experience required to be accepted in a more socially fulfilling position? And that’s assuming that such a meaningful career transition is even possible!

Give me the right opportunity and I can guarantee that I’m ready to give my life for it. Why isn’t this enough?

We’re all born fighting for the same thing, a chance. Everyone deserves a chance. When did we forget this?

I just wish the system accommodated passionate individuals and provided meaningful opportunities to those with all levels of experience and knowledge.

Because once these meaningful opportunities become available in our society, I guarantee you’ll have an active generation of youth working passionately, creatively and practically to giving those very same opportunities to our fellow human beings who sadly, were not as lucky as us.
